Cayuga Ind - Charles J. Summers, 76 of Cayuga Ind a resident of the Veterans Home in West Lafayette, Ind for the past 1 1/2 years passed away March 14, 1995 at the Veteran Home there. Born Oct 26, 1918 in Waveland, Ind he was the son of Byron E and Icie Huffman Summers. He was a farmer and construction worker and last worked for Smith-Nones Corp Allith Div as a spray painter. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. He was a member of the Fairview EUB Church, Tangier and Freedom Baptist Church, Waveland. He was a graduate of Tangier HS class of 1938. He was a lifetime member of the Cayuga American Legion Post 263. He enjoyed gardening. He married Lenora Faye Swaim on Dec 22, 1956 in Clinton Il. She passed away June 30, 1991. Surviving two stepsons, James E (Joan) Weir; and Gene (Alma) Weir both of Cayuga; 9 step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one brother, Leon Summers of Lowell, Ind; 3 sisters, Leora Sheppard of Montezuma, Ind; Mildred DeBaun of Crawfordsville, Ind and Cathryn Jackman of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roy. Services were held at DeVerter Bros Funeral Home, Cayuga with Rev. Steve Gommel officiating. Burial at Miller Cemetery, Lodi, Ind with graveside military rites by Cayuga American Legion Post #263 - memorial to them.
